Abraham W. Garcia died peacefully in his home in Pasadena at the age of 86 on September 24, 2026. He was surrounded by his beloved family: wife Linden, daughter Nicole, and son-in-law Bill. Sadly, his daughter Annick was still en route from Seattle.

Garcia studied commercial art in college and proceeded to work for Foote, Cone & Belding in Los Angeles before starting his own graphic design company in Portland, Oregon. 

He always enjoyed making something out of nothing, turning found objects into something useful, including bookshelves, kitchen carts, tables...you name it. He parlayed this passion into set design, store design, and furniture design. Later in life, he pivoted to insurance sales, in which he found much success, earning award travel to Austria, Banff and Bermuda.

He loved music of all ranges, from Ave Maria sung by Pavarotti to Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. He loved reading the paper and doing the crossword puzzle. And he loved talking with people and cracking jokes, which his granddaughters endearingly named “Popo jokes.”

His ashes will rest in the church garden at Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Sierra Madre. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 28, 2026. More details will follow.
