Emre Comertoglu, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, & friend, passed away on March 26, 2026 at the age of 47.
Emre was born on August 4, 1978 in Ankara, Turkey to his loving parents, Selami Comertoglu & Nuran Comertoglu. He grew up with his two older sisters, Zeynep & Berna. As the youngest in the family, Emre would often joke that he had “three moms,” a reflection of the love, care, & closeness they all shared, a feeling he carried throughout his life.
He cherished time with his friends, including his lifelong best friend Ozzy, & discovered his love for fitness early on. He also had a deep connection to nature & the outdoors, often saying that he belonged in the mountains, where he felt most at peace. In 2004, Emre worked on salmon fishing boats in Alaska, embracing both the adventure & the challenge. In 2005 he settled in Long Beach.
In 2006, Emre welcomed his son, Taner, who became one of the greatest joys of his life. In 2013, he met Nancy, the love of his life. Their bond was deep, passionate, & rare. They married in one of their most cherished places, Mammoth Mountain. Emre also embraced his role as a father figure to Natalia, whom he loved deeply.
Emre was known for his compassionate heart, his kindness, & his unwavering spirit. His lifelong dream of opening his own gym was achieved in 2026.
Emre is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Comertoglu, his son, Taner Comertoglu, his stepdaughter, Natalia Gallegos, his loving sisters, Zeynep and Berna, and a wide circle of family and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
