Marciano Ortiz Díaz, also known as Mariano, was born on November 11, 1955, in Jalisco, Mexico, he was the eldest of eleven siblings. From an early age, he learned the importance of hard work, family, and perseverance, values that would remain at the center of his life.
In 1970, he emigrated to the United States in search of greater opportunities. He began working for a landscaping company and later went on to start a masonry company alongside his brother. Through many years of dedication and hard work, he built a life centered around providing for and caring for his family.
Although he worked hard, he always made time for the simple things that brought him happiness. He loved gardening and took great pride in growing his own vegetables. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising chickens, ducks, and rabbits.
Throughout his working years, he enjoyed taking sabbaticals, splitting his time between working in the United States and returning to Mexico to be with his family. During those stays in Mexico, he became known for selling fresh coconuts from his home. With remarkable skill and agility, he would open them with his machete, a memory that family and friends will always remember fondly. At the age of 63, he officially retired and was able to enjoy more of the life he had worked so hard to build.
After courageously facing cancer for two years, he passed away surrounded by the love and legacy of the family he cherished.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Santa Ortiz Segura, his seven children, eight grandchildren, and a large extended family. As the eldest of eleven siblings, his life touched many generations, and his presence will be deeply missed.
He will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his family, his roots, the outdoors, and the simple pleasures of life. The gardens he tended, the family he raised, and the countless memories he created will continue to tell his story.
His life was one of hard work, family, and love, a legacy that will live on through all those who knew and loved him.
